Seven years ago Crosspatch Creations and Three Bags Full joined together to offer our spinning clients a larger selection and assortment of fiber products. Now we are heading in a brand new direction. We will no longer be selling retail, only selling wholesale to a very select group of stores. We are very excited about this new trend, as we will be doing much less traveling and have more time to produce our fiber blends. Our stores also will be attending not only the spinning and weaving shows that we attended, but they will also be doing many more shows than we could ever reach.

Crosspatch Creations

I have loved and worked with fiber for over 30 years and I bring this love and experience to my fiber business. I manufacture custom, hand-dyed and hand-blended spinning batts. These batts blend a complex array of colors, combining wool with exotic fibers such as tussah silk, Bombyx silk, silk noil, rayon, tencel and even angora to produce textured yarns of exquisite beauty. There is literally nothing else like these batts on the market. In addition to my batts, I also produce two kinds of roving. Rainbow Roving is a solid color wool combine with lots of other exotic fibers. Triple Play Roving is three colors running side by side to create a very variegated yarn. I currently create over 30 color lines.

My husband (Don) makes beautiful hand spindles in oak and various exotic woods. He has also developed the Contraman Comfort Combs. These are hand held wool combs with a hand turned handle for superior grip. He uses only the finest oak with stainless steel tines in both single and double pitch.

I also hand-paint silk caps and Tussah and Bombyx silk roving. Complimenting the silk caps, I have developed a silk scarf pattern.

Our newest product, developed with Three Bags Full, is our Totally Tubular Spinning Kit. The kit consists of a clear plastic tube filled with layers of colorful fiber, a spinning suggestion sheet and one of your choice of five knitting patterns. My flock keeps growing consisting primarily of crossbred Romney, Merino and Corriedales. I crossbred these breeds to produce a silky medium grade wool that works well with my carding machine. In addition to these sheep, I also raise purebred Romeldales and CVM’s. I have added this extremely rare breed to my flock to help conserve an endangered sheep breed. Unlike many endangered sheep breeds, this breed produces soft wool. I use their wool in my Triple Play and Rainbow roving lines. Since my focus is on beautiful handspinning wool, I breed my Romeldales and CVM’s to produce lovely, soft fleeces. I also now purchase some hand selected wool from fellow handspinner flocks.

Since we live close to the National Forest, I use tight fences and guard llamas to discourage predator from attacking my flock. I have found these llamas to be worth their weight in gold as flock protectors. From time to time both Diana and I do have young llamas for sale.

Three Bags Full

Three Bags Full began in 1990 with the purchase of 12 cashmere goats and one free, pregnant merino ewe. The numbers of both goats and sheep have changed and grown considerably over the years and the quality is under constant scrutiny for improvement.

Merinos are still part of the sheep flock with Romneys, CVM/Romeldales and some crossbreeds being added. CVM/Romeldales are an exciting addition as they not only have wonderfully soft fleeces but their colors include white, grays (light to dark) and lovely moorit shades. CVM/Romeldales are a critically endangered breed and I am thrilled to be a part of their preservation.

My wool fleeces are heavily skirted before being made into roving so the handspinner gets only the best wool. My goal is to supply only the very best quality fiber products to handspinners (and occasionally keep some for myself!).
